HighLIGHTing Science Meeting

HightLIGHTing Science is a meeting organized by our ESRs with the intention of sharing knowledge, innovation and scientific advancements.

In this meeting, we will gather a selection of speakers who are prominent researchers investigating what light can offer. Speakers from industry have also been invited to share their work and experiences. We anticipate that this will enlighten early stage researchers. We hope that this event will be an inviting and open space to not only present our current research with photodynamic therapy but also to share the work of others who are investigating light applied to different fields.

Applications for flash and poster presentations are available upon registration. Our aim is that together we can help each other to advance by sharing ideas and facilitating a space for possible future collaborations. For this reason, HightLIGHTing Science will be an open-source meeting with participation free of charge.

The POLYTHEA project encompasses the design and photo-optimization of photosensitizers for human health and food security application, or ‘How light can save lives’. POLYTHEA is a Marie Curie Innovative Training Network – European Joint Doctorate. This network consists of 7 universities, 4 industrial partners, and 1 research institute for the training of young researchers in the field of photodynamic treatments. Our goal is to develop new active compounds that can efficiently fight microbial infections and cancer, two main challenges for food security and human health.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, this meeting will be an online event.
